  1. I think something you're all missing is that 3dstudio has always (since 
  2. ver 1.0) been extremely popular in the video market.  One of it's main 
  3. selling points has been it's ability to act like a robust CG.  Many of the 
  4. logos you see flying around on your tv's are generated in 3ds.  
  5.  
  6. Most of the companies I've seen buy 3ds use it in-house.  Theres a huge 
  7. market you never see... in house training tapes, annual reports, and the 
  8. like.

  10. Anyway, back to the flame war.

  12. I haven't seen Lightwave yet, but if it's a lot better, then it'll 
  13. do to 3ds what 3ds did to crystal 3d.

  15. Also, if anyone's curious: For an example of good use of 3ds, check out the
  16. back of Wired.  Speer's started to use smooth surfaces.

  18. Can someone point me to similar images generated in lightwave?  I'd really
  19. curious about what it can do in film, video, and press.
